The process of seeing is what counts, not "how good is my drawing?" -- CWL
To be in love with the world is particularly lucky, as it's everywhere: city, country and suburb. And luckiest of all is that it's never too late to fall into this particular thrall. All you need to do is begin to look around.
-- Bill McKibben
Since the early '70's I have been having full enjoyment of learning about nature around me, teaching Nature Drawing and Journaling in many places, writing now fifteen books, and being with our family. We have lived in both Cambridge, Mass and Granville, Vermont. So my studio has been portable, moving around - mostly outdoors. My teachers, all these years, have been the European Wildlife Artists specifically - Eric Ennion of England, Gunnar Brusewitz of Sweden, John Busby of Scotland.
Now, with over sixty of my own hard bound Nature Journals, I am deeply pleased to know that Nature Journaling has become widely popular for many others, in now many countries.
With grandchildren nearby, with my husband passed, with the world around complicated, I am finding the Solaces of Nature continually grounding for me, for my teaching, writing, exhibiting, and for the many others who share this connection.Thank you all for doing what you are doing.
In the words of Jane Goodall:
"The environment we create will determine what prevails. In other words, what we nurture and encourage wins."
